GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  


During this uncertain time in our country, the Wyoming Life Resource Center is continuing to hire full-time employees with great pay and benefits to care for the individuals who live in our 24/7 healthcare facility. Lander Wyoming is known for its recreational opportunities, yearly festivals, relaxation, scenic beauty, and outdoor activities. Sinks Canyon State Park is nearby offering beautiful scenery and the mystery of seeing a river disappear into the side of the mountain.

  • Provides support to a person with a disability at home, work, school, church, and other community places.
  • Assists with activities of daily living and encourage attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion.
  • Acts as an advocate for the disabled individual, in communicating their needs, self-expression, and goals.
  • Documents weekly progress toward group and intervention participation.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and shift change reports.
  • Prepares forms associated with client recreation and activities.
  • Enters, records and maintains information in written or electronic form.
  • Handles complaints, settles disputes, and resolves grievances and conflicts, or otherwise supports residents who reside together in resolving these issues and conflicts.
  • Accompanies residents on outings and activities including shopping, Special Olympics, dining out, movies, or trips to visit family members or attend medical appointments.
  • Provides intermittent direct observation of individuals at significant risk of self- injurious behavior and be required to provide complete attention, intervention, and redirection at any moment per the outlined plan in the Positive Behavior Support Plan.
  • Provides daily individual and group contact to clients through the delivery of recreation and leisure activities.
  • Plans and prepares for the group and special event programming for clients.
  • Documents weekly progress toward group and intervention participation.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and shift change reports.
  • Prepares forms associated with client recreation and activities.

 
PREFERENCES: 


Preferences will be given to applicants who have one or more years of experience working in the behavioral health field. 


KNOWLEDGE: 

 
  • Knowledge of client protocols and interventions of therapy.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and management of aggressive behaviors.
  • Knowledge of the documentation program therapy.
  • Knowledge of procedures of specialized sensory programs to include olfactory, vestibular motion, tactile implements, and auditory interventions.
  • Knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities.
  • Knowledge of program adaptations.
  • Knowledge of recreation and social programming.
  • Knowledge of motivational techniques.
  • Knowledge of ethics and how to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Skills in using a computer and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures such as BLS, First Aide, MANDT.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
 
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare)
 
Experience:
No prior experience required
 
OR
 
Education & Experience Substitution:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)

OR
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
CNA Certification

 
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

 
  • Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling) position and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
  • Ability to monitor sounds, noises, location of clients, etc. in order to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
  • Ability to work alone and/or with multiple clients.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress situation.

  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • A background information check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
  • A pre-employment drug screening is required by the Wyoming Department of Health.
