ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Provide direct nursing care, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or health provider and according to the plan of care derived from the health provider's orders and RN's assessment.
- Provide daily nursing care to chronic and acute clients in the in-patient area. Follow health provider's orders and plans of care as written by RN.
- Serve as a liaison between direct care staff, clinic, and health providers. Monitor the health status of clients and provide information to providers and RN's.
- Maintain client rooms and equipment as necessary for health and safety.
- Confer with RN's and health providers to discuss, plan and implement a course of action in client care.
- Keep abreast of computer updates.
- Perform selected nursing procedures such as administration of medications prescribed by the health provider and performing treatments and assisting in emergencies.
- Provide and record routine treatments to clients, such as respiratory therapy, insulin therapy, dressing changes, etc. Provide input as to nursing and medication needs.
- Keep abreast of standard nursing practices, ICF/IID standards, and Wyoming Life Resource Center policies and protocols.
PREFERENCES/*AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or acquired brain injury.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of medications, administration, reactions, and side effects.- Knowledge of First Aid techniques and CPR.
- Knowledge of infection control and universal precaution technique.
- Knowledge of ICF/IID and the Nurses Practice Act.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate medical equipment.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position, and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.- Ability to monitor sounds, noises, clients' location, etc., to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-exempt
- A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
