Job Description

The Strategic Market Analysis team is responsible for Statkraft’s long-term view of the development of power markets within which it operates. This includes developing a long-term view of power prices and high-quality insights to support business strategy and commercial processes. The Strategic Market Analysis Team is divided into three regional areas: Nordics, Europe, and Emerging Markets (India, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Turkey). We are recruiting an analyst to work in the Emerging Markets team.

The purpose of this role is to carry out fundamental long term power market analysis (qualitative and quantitative) for Emerging Markets and use the results and insights to support decision making within the company:

• Close monitoring of energy / power market development, identify market trends, undertake power market modelling, interpret results, and extract strategic implications
• Lead on developing analytical methods, models, and deliveries
• Prepare background papers and presentations to support internal decision-making for example in investment decisions, asset valuations and strategy processes
• Take part in cross-Statkraft strategy and commercial processes

Qualifications

• Master's degree in finance, economics, engineering or similar with good results.
• At least 3 years relevant work experience in power market analysis and modelling.
• General experience from and understanding of at least one emerging market is desirable.  
• Used to work with large data sets (Excel, SQL, Python or similar).
• Strong coding skills (Python or similar).
• Highly structured, analytical, thorough and result oriented.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English. Spanish language skills will be advantageous.
• A team player that can take own initiatives and have a creative mindset.
• Strong personal integrity and high ethical standards.

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must be eligible for security clearance and authorization.

The position will be located at the head office at Lilleaker, Oslo. Some travel will be required.
