The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.
Position Specific Summary:
The Assistant Nurse Manager on Pediatric Intensive Care Unit interfaces with the administrative and clinical nursing staff to provide leadership in improving and maintaining the delivery of care processes for a specific unit and/or patient populations. The Assistant Nurse Manager assumes delegated responsibility for implementation of daily operations for specific units and/or patient populations.

Position Responsibilities:
Education Required:
Baccalaureate in Nursing is required
Required Qualifications:
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
Minimum 2 years current or recent (within the last 12 months) experience in pediatric critical care nursing
Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Nursing is required by six months of hire
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, decision making, and critical thinking skills
Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness
Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments
Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
Demonstrates appreciation for diversity with an understanding of benefits of a diverse workforce (stimulation, challenge, and energy that contributes to a productive and effective workplace)
Desirable Qualifications:
Current experience managing/leading transitions in care
Knowledge of UI and UIHC policies, procedures, and regulations
Experience working in a large academic medical center
Experience working in a union environment
PALS instructor certification
