About us
At STEAM Academy, we're on a mission to inspire the next generation of creative problem solvers who will help us create a world that looks more like Star Trek than Black Mirror. In our first year, we're already delivering afterschool robotics programs that are more popular than any organized sport - and we're just getting started! While STEAM Academy is a new venture with global ambitions, its founders have created and delivered amazing afterschool ‘edutainment’ experiences to kids for over ten years, building highly successful businesses along the way (including one with a unicorn exit).
Responsibilities
- Conduct classes for children — The primary responsibility of a teacher with our company is to teach and engage with children. This includes conducting classes, leading activities, and ensuring all students actively participate and learn.
- Work with selected age groups — Our company provides educational experiences for children between 6 and 12. As a teacher, you will work with students within this age range and tailor your approach to suit their needs.
- Prepare for lessons according to provided material — To ensure that our students receive a consistent and high-quality educational experience, our company provides all teachers with lesson plans, materials, and guidance. You will review and prepare for each lesson according to the provided material as a teacher.
- Participate in training — Our company values ongoing education and professional development. As a teacher, you will be expected to participate in training sessions where we constantly learn about Legos, robots, and how to work together with kids. These sessions are designed to keep you up-to-date with the latest teaching methods, technologies, and industry developments.
- Actively and cheerfully spend time with the team — Finally, as a team members, we expect our teachers to actively engage with their colleagues, participate in team-building activities, and maintain a positive and collaborative attitude. We believe a robust team environment is essential to providing the best possible education for our students.
Requirements
- The desire and capacity to work with kids
- Tech-savvy (technology & digital literacy is crucial) and great in story telling
- Great English skills (written and spoken)
- Communication skills, empathy, and problem-solving skills
- At least 1 year of experience working in education (school, camps, after-school clubs)
