Position Objective To provide quality customer service related to the areas of Property Tax, Passports and revenue collection through public interaction, on-line, and electronic banking. This position is responsible for collecting and distributing County funds, maintaining deposits, invoices and cash management.

1. Responds to inquiries regarding tax information and revenue collections through the County Website, phone and in person in accordance with County and State laws and policies to provide prompt, professional and accurate customer service.
2. Accepts and processes tax payments, revenue collections, accounts receivables, payroll, department deposits, refund checks and returned deposit items to ensure that all funds are applied correctly and documented.
3. Processes and maintains escrow, electronic funds and prepaid tax payments; balances, posts and maintains such files ensuring proper allocations and postings.
4. Assists in administering and coordinating banking, wire transactions and check runs.
5. Determines and applies appropriate general ledger accounting codes to prevent misappropriation of funds and inaccurate financial statements.
6. Balances and handles cash on hand and drawer totals; utilizes financial system by managing cash book transaction entering and balancing.
7. Processes passport applications to provide citizens with timely and accurate passports meeting all requirements of federal rules and policies.
8. Researches, documents and prepares Over Remittance checks to reconcile appropriate payments.
9. Collects and documents funds received from revenue recapture so that all monies due are collected.
10. Attends training and meetings to maintain knowledge of policy, software and process changes
11. Attends work regularly and in a timely manner.
12. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Minimum Qualifications In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Four years of progressively related experience, including cash handling
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Typing speed of 55 words per minute
- Ability to pass background eligibility and certification as US Passport Agent

Work Environment and Physical DemandsThe primary responsibilities for this position will be performed indoors. Will have minimal exposure to health hazards and accidents; requires a low to moderate level of physical effort. All employees are required to reside within the state of Minnesota.
Extent of Supervision or Guidance ProvidedWork is performed under the general supervision of the Office Services Supervisor.
Responsibility for Public ContactFrequent.
Hours of WorkThis position has a normal work schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. May have the opportunity for additional hours during property tax season and election years. Schedules may be adjusted according to the needs of the department.
