Overview

Brief Description: Supervise production testing and personnel at Rail Met Lab

Responsibilities

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Supervision of Rail Met Lab Leadmen and Lab Technicians.
  • Maintain safe working environment and lead monthly safety meetings.
  • Maintain Rail Met Lab quality and safety systems (SOPs, Forms, JSAs, ELCs, CWAPs)
  • Oversee collection, preparation, and analysis of rail samples.
  • Timely production dispositioning and releasing of rail heats.
  • Analyze process and product data to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Design and manage trials for product and process improvements.
  • Responsible for spare part inventory and routine/emergency maintenance of Rail Met Lab equipment

Qualifications

Experience/Requirements: 

 

Required: 

  • Proven leadership skills
  • Self-motivation
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Great decision- making skills.

Preferred:

  • Excellent safety and attendance record.
  • Laboratory and rail product experience
  • Basic understanding of steel metallurgy and development of physical properties of various steel grades and products produced at SRD.
  • Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy and /or equivalent work experience.
