What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Superintendent position at Steel Hugger's?
Job purpose:
- Under the direction and supervision of the President/Owner and/or Project Manager and in cooperation with the General Contractor, oversee the day-to-day operations on jobsites, ensuring we are making deadlines in a timely fashion and overseeing field crew and sub-subcontractors to make sure safety standards are being met and adhered to.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Oversees daily operations on job sites. Leads meetings with the crew and attends job site
- meetings with General Contractors as and when needed.
- · Hires, trains, and helps manage construction workers alongside the Project Manager and field supervisors.
- · Has had experience using relevant software.
- Orders relevant and needed equipment and problem solves anything that is missing and required in the field.
- Communicates with office on drawings for structural steel and helps maintain our schedule and works to meet completion dates.
- Making sure that all the helpers are abiding by shop/OSHA safety regulations and all team members are adhering to site rules as well as Steel Huggers code of conduct.
- Attend Safety Meetings
- Works with the designated safety coordinator, project coordinators and project manager to make sure we have accurate documentation for all employees and sub-subcontractors and that safety records are being accurately maintained and communicated effectively.
Qualifications:
- Education – No H.S. diploma required. Welding experiences and qualifications preferred but not essential.
- At least three years superintendent experience within the construction industry, Steel experience preferred.
- MUST have full and clean driver’s license.
Working conditions
- Must love to work outside as there will be exposure to all types of weather conditions because most of the work is done outside or in partially enclosed structures.
- Must be willing to be working on sites and driving between job sites as needed.
- They normally work 40-to-45 hour a week, but may sometimes work evenings, weekends, and holidays to finish a job or oversee and respond to an emergency.
- Will required the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including steel toed boots, hearing and eye protection, protective covering of extremities (such as long sleeved shirts)
Physical requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. or more with assistance from another employee & or equipment.
- Employees must be in good physical condition. The job will require prolonged walking and standing daily.
- Must be willing to walk around job sites and be able to drive between them.
