What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Highway Maintenance position at STEELE COUNTY?
Working 40 hours per week during the summer months. Hours are typically M-F from 7:00AM-3:00PM.
Open until filled.
Under the direction of the Highway Maintenance Supervisor and Foreperson, the Seasonal Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting the Highway Maintenance crews with maintenance on the County Highway System. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Performs Highway Maintenance work on roadways, ditches, parking lots and buildings
- Assists sign crew with County road signs
- Crack-fill, Pothole Patch and Dura-Patch Pavement
- Brush Cutting, and Spraying of Noxious Weeds
- Paint Traffic Markings and Cross Walks
- Drives, transports, and/or operates County equipment
- Helps set up work zones with traffic control and performs flagging duties
- Mows roadside ditches
Work Expectations & Conditions:
- Tolerate and work safely in a construction area or job areas where motorized equipment is operating
- Work in all types of weather conditions
- Regularly lift 20-30 pounds and periodically lift 40-50 pounds
- Frequent bending, squatting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling and reaching shoulder height
- Ability to hear normal conversation in person and using two-way radios and see near and far with depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors
Successful candidates will have:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in mowing, landscaping, brush cutting, small power tools and equipment
- Valid driver’s license
