Job Description - Director of Mission Development

Purpose:
The Director of Mission Development is responsible for developing, driving and supporting the spiritual formation and mission focus of individuals in line with the church's vision and strategy. This position must understand and support the SCPCPH Vision, Mission, Values and Strategy. This role will be responsible for leading outreach efforts in the local community to bring awareness of and interest in SCPCPH.
Organization:
The Director of Mission Development will report to the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff with oversight coming from the Session and Administrative and Personnel Ministry Team. The position will be a full-time, exempt, salaried staff position. Hours of work will include evening and weekend activities.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
- Working closely with all members of the congregation to develop the 'Daily Practice' component of the church's strategy through:o Developing tools to help individuals connect with God daily, fueling a life of active faith practiceo Championing initiatives around spiritual formation in the church and within the communityo Helping establish 'daily practices' as the foundation for people to anchor their life of faitho Guiding, directing and nurturing individuals in their connection with God to live out faith in action everydayo Supporting the identification and development of congregant-led service initiatives- Working closely with the congregation and respective committees (as needed) to develop and execute the 'Monthly Service' component of the church's strategy through:o Identifying and coordinating a variety of monthly service projects to actively and joyfully serve our neighborso Ensuring monthly service opportunities cater to all age groups to allow for all congregants to participateo Educating and reinforcing the importance of participating in monthly service efforts to make a positive contribution in our communitieso Promoting a sense of sincere gratitude for what Christ has given us and using those blessings to serve others in needo Training individuals for the work of mission and monthly service in their daily lives- Cultivating relationships by personal contact, one on one mentoring and various group activities (social, spiritual and mission related activities)- Communicating opportunities effectively and encouraging involvement in the life of the Church- Serving as a welcoming presence for all visitors and finding creative ways to reach out to the community at large- Working closely with the Mission Teams (Mission, Tithing and Outreach) to develop community and international outreach opportunities- Working with Deacons to develop relationships within the Church
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree required
- 5 Years of experience in Spiritual Formation, Christian Education or Mission Development in a church, non-profit or community organization
- Experience in teaching and team leadership- Exhibit mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ with ability to share and lead others to the faith
- Demonstrate an encouraging, positive attitude and the ability to translate vision into reality
- Must have strong relationship building skills and experience in collaborating with non-profit or other community organizations
- Ability to develop and implement new tools, practices and programs while working in a team environment - Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills including social networking
- Requires attention to detail and follow through on assignments and deadlines
