Mechanical skills is key; hands-on with switch-lock fittings, working with lab instruments and setting up equipment; and then operating the equipment. One-quarter inch line with switch-lock fittings; build fittings; connecting instruments; cleaning the lines and fixing the lab equipment. Cut a glass pipe and bend glass pipeline fittings. Working with the scrubbers and working with the scrubber solutions. One-inch viscous oil lines (needs to be cleaned overnight). Glass plumbing. Working with control software.
· Also electrical related: Working with heat elements, or heat tape in a pharmaceutical environment.
· Long term (2 or 3 years) is expected in this position.
· Need someone with flexible work hours. M-F is going to be standard, but should be available for other shifts as necessary and could help support other nearby labs on other shfits.
· Experience in lab hardware and mechanical equipment is essential;
· Mechanical Engineering degree or Pharmaceutical Engineering degree is perfect for this role … NOT looking for chemists. NOT looking for biology. Do NOT send master’s degrees.
· Ideal: Engineering experience working with pharmaceutical equipment.
Our company is hiring for a Lab Testing Technician in Iselin, NJ. In this role, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting testing equipment or apparatus as well as reporting experimental data. The testing apparatus could be in bench-scale or pilot-scale. Strong hands-on mechanical skills, attention to details, and understanding chemical process is the key for success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Responsible for daily operation and maintenance of testing labs
* Troubleshooting mechanical and some electrical issues. Repair or replace as needed.
* Strong hands-on skills. Prior experience with plumbing or piping work is valued.
* Flexible working hours. Depending on the assigned lab, the work schedule could be day shift or evening shift. This position starts with day shift.
* Understanding basics of catalytic cracking reaction, fluidized bed reactor, gas analysis is a plus
* Proficiency in using Microsoft office software to report data
* Working collaboratively in a team set
* Being able to lift 50 pounds.
Qualifications
* HS degree with 5 years of relevant lab experience
* Associates in a related discipline with up to 5 years of relevant lab experience (or 2 year technical school for some roles)
* Bachelor's in a related discipline with no lab experience
* Strong hands-on skills in mechanical repair and installation
* Strong troubleshooting skills
* Be able to climb ladders
* Proficiency in MS Office software, Word and Excel
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
