Summary Objective
The primary function is to ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, reconciling and entering transactions. This includes providing financial information to management to support financial decision-making by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including contracts and change orders, for all job cost and project accounting activities.
- Create project accounts in the accounting system, authorize access to project accounts and authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts (job cost transfers).
- Investigate project variances, submit variance reports to management and respond to requests for more detail from key stakeholders.
- Close out projects and project accounts upon project completion.
- Compile information for project management, management and external auditors, as required.
- Communicate with and guide accounting clerical staff and Project Managers by coordinating activities and answering questions.
- Ensure that daily operational (Purchasing, Accounts Receivable Billing, Cash Receipts and Disbursements and Payroll) financial transactions are correct.
- Research and explain actual to budget/forecast variances for both overhead and job cost accounts.
- Process weekly payroll entries, ensuring that all payroll and payroll-related accounts are accurately stated.
- Perform various month-end close procedures, including the preparation of the Company’s Financial Statement Packet and the Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule.
- Reconcile WIP schedule to general ledger accounts (both balance sheet and income statement).
- Document financial transactions by preparing general ledger account entries and by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts, and analyzing account information.
- Reconcile select balance sheet and income statement accounts along with accounting system modules/subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Protect the confidentiality of all accounting and payroll data.
- Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Work Environment
This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor degree in accounting and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience; or
- 10 years relevant experience.

- Job cost and project accounting.

- Strong proficiency experience with MS Word, MS Excel and ability to use accounting software.
