We are looking for a Database Administrator to work on-site at ANY of the following locations:
- Northern VA
- Dayton, OH
- Tracy, CA
- New Cumberland, PA
This role is in support of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Enterprise Applications Support.
Responsibilities:
- Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases to include Oracle, DB2 and Microsoft (MS) SQL Server database systems hosted on Windows/UNIX/LINUX servers.
- Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function.
- Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment.
- Conducts troubleshooting and ticket resolution involving refreshing application schemas, performance tuning, upgrades and patching, daily data transfers, backup failures, and server maintenance. Incidents and Work Orders must be completed within target timeframes.
- Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
- Control and monitor user access to the database.
- Assist with application database documentation, creating SOPs and knowledge articles.
- Assist with COOP and DR activities.
- Advises users on access to various client/server databases. Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
- Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
- Develops tests and procedures to regularly assess the health of database schemas; take corrective measures where appropriate.
- Tracks maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design.
- Creates primary objects (tables, views, indexes) and modify primary objects, as necessary, to address issues raised by application developers.
- Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end /backend programming languages (e.g., SQL).
- Performs database programming and supports systems design.
- Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.
- Communicates consistently with the project team, the contract Project Manager, and customer stakeholders.
- Assists in the completion, review, and submission of deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of five (5 years of progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle, PL SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access. Also has at least three years of hands-on experience and expertise in Relational Database Management Systems. Experience also shall include capability to work on various operating systems and additional programming languages. Has experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database.
- Minimum of one year of experience supporting DoD Program Acquisition Category (ACAT) I Level and/or ACAT III level IT development programs in the areas of program management (PM), systems engineering (SE) related functional/technical quality, cost analysis (CA), and configuration management (CM) assessments and audits of DOD IT program lifecycle requirements, documents, and data and their compliance with DOD acquisition policies and regulations.
- Clearance: SECRET with IT-1 Eligibility (TS Preferred)
- Certifications:
- IAT Level II Certification or higher (CCNA-Security, CSA , GICSP. GSEC, Security CE, SSCP, CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH)
