GMS Application Platform Engineer (KUBERNETES)

Position: 15234 - GMS Application Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid Santa Ana & Rosemead, CA

Role Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the Kubernetes platforms supporting the Grid Management System as well as other platform technologies in our solution. Ensure high-availability and solid performance through pro-active maintenance and optimization efforts.
• Responsible to provide operational support for Application Platform technologies (tier 2/3) involving sophisticated, technical issues to ensure timely resolution. Provide technical guidance to members of the tier 1 and 2 support teams.
• Suggests actions to prevent future system issues utilizing ITIL Problem management such as RCA.
• Participate in build activities standing up new Kubernetes platforms.
• May require 24/7 on-call support to operations.

Required Certification, Experience & Knowledge

• CNCF Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or CNCF Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certifications
• Five (5) or more years of experience in System Administration or Application Development or Support & Maintenance of large enterprise grade applications
• Two (2) or more years of experience administering and maintaining Kubernetes clusters with at least one year experience in a production environment
• Two (2) or more years of experience building/engineering Kubernetes platforms, experience setting up Kubernetes environments.
• Experience with Jenkins and Nexus
• Experience with Kubernetes in on-prem, traditional set up
• Experience troubleshooting Kubernetes platform
• Experience in maintaining Kubernetes ecosystem including Ingress, Service Mesh, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana and EFK

Preferred Education, Experience & Knowledge

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering/ technical field
• DevOps tools experience
• Experience on NGINX, F5 Load Balancers and VIPs
• Hands on experience in using Software development methodologies Agile Methodology, Scrum and Waterfall software development processes.
• Experience in microservices in Docker and Kubernetes environments
