Youth Crisis Services Coordinator
Position Description:
The Youth Crisis Services Coordinator will plan, organize and implement a Children's Mental Health Crisis Response System that is clinically sound and rooted in evidence-based practices. Overall responsibility for supervising and coordinating the work of program staff. Work with the CEO, Clinical Director and others in developing plans, protocols, staff training, and coordination of the program with key stakeholders.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with the protocols for the Children's Mental Health Crisis Response System. The protocols must meet the requirements of Minnesota Statutes 256B.0944. The protocols must include the four main components of crisis services: screening, assessment, intervention and stabilization. Ensure that protocols are clinically sound and based on best practices. Ensure that the protocols address the safety of staff and recipients in high-risk situations.
- Plan and organize crisis services training as determined by the Crisis Grant's annual work plan and the needs of the staff. Conduct training for participating staff. Coordinate training with project subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports to the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
- Provide quarterly reports and information on the Crisis Program to the Social Service Directors in all 4 counties.
- Plan and conduct Crisis staff meetings.
- Plan and conduct Crisis Advisory Committee meetings.
- Plan and conduct public relations and advertising activities to increase usage of the program.
- Provide consultation when necessary to Practitioners who are responding to a crisis call. Assist Practitioner to effectively assess and intervene in the immediate crisis. This is to be done in coordination with Mental Health Professionals who supervise Crisis Practitioners.
- May choose to provide consultation and/or direct crisis services evenings, weekends and holidays and would receive compensation at the same rate as other on-call staff.
- Ensure that Mental Health Practitioners are receiving treatment supervision of their work and documentation is completed within the mandated timeframe.
- Periodically review crisis assessment and crisis treatment plans for quality control under the direction of the Clinical Director.
- Review and monitor quality assurance standards and processes for crisis services (including client/parent satisfaction surveys). Assists in evaluating crisis services to ensure quality assurance standards are met and prepares recommendations to management.
- Keeps the CEO or designee informed of Crisis Program progress, problems and issues that require attention.
- Provide stabilization services for youth and families.
- Work with crisis staff, inpatient hospitals, schools, and other community partners to obtain stabilization referrals.
- Performs duties in compliance with federal and state laws related to mandated reporting, HIPAA, and the Data Privacy Act.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences and qualified under Minnesota Statutes as a Mental Health Practitioner.
- Experience in crisis services is highly desirable.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong communications skills and able to work effectively with other community services.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
