Insurance Specialist

Stellis Health is looking for a full-time Insurance Specialist to join our team.

Position Summary: The Insurance Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate billing of dedicated patient accounts.

Essential Functions

• Process, edit, and submit claims to insurance companies and other payers.
• Verification of patient insurance coverage.
• Track and collect accounts receivable.
• Calculate insurance payments, patient payments, and adjustments to accounts.
• Process and post payments.
• Communication and correspondence with insurance carriers and other payers to ensure timely billing and follow up on unpaid claims.
• Respond to patient inquiries and resolve billing, collection, and reimbursement issues.
• Correct and resubmit claims for processing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of medical insurance claim process, provider billing
• Understanding of payer contracts and compliance regulations
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, ICD-9 and/or ICD-10, co-pays, insurance deductibles and co-insurance.
• Strong investigative, information gathering, problem-solving and mathematical skills.
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Experience with EMR systems and Microsoft Office

Requirements

• High School Diploma and 1-3 years of medical business office experience
