The Role
Step is seeking a Finance & Strategy professional to be part of a world class finance team.
This role will focus on supporting Step's leadership team on strategically important issues, and will be a foundational early member of the Finance & Strategy team.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with company leadership to drive successful business outcomes for Step
- Leverage your financial background and understanding of our financial drivers to support and influence key strategic and product decisions
(e.g., identify and research high priority industry verticals and use this to inform the group's prioritization and product roadmap)
- Provide analytical rigor to operational and growt
h initiatives (e.g., dive deep into the company's acquisition funnel to identify key trends, and areas where ROI can be improved)
- Support strategic and financial planning processes for Step (e.g., Monthly Reviews, Annual Budget, and Long Range Plan), and evaluate organizational tradeoffs in planning to influence decision making
- Develop and monitor critical success and business performance metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders
- Develop and analyze detailed models for in-depth analyses, as well as ensure their quality, timeliness, and accuracy
- Support Step's leaders and other teams with ad hoc analysis and relevant external relations (e.g., fundraising, negotiating contract terms, evaluating prospective partnerships, industry research and data analysis)
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity or corporate/strategic finance at a high growth technology and/or financial services company.
- A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with colleagues and business partners; you are seen as a trusted and objective advisor
- The ability to bring structure to ambiguous areas of opportunity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
- An enthusiastic "roll up your sleeves" mentality
- A proven ability to be a self-starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, and extensive experience architecting integrated models from scratch, performing complex and insightful data analysis (including ability to leverage SQL on a daily basis)
- You may also have knowledge of and/or experience in the banking, payments and/or lending industry
