Job Summary:
The Copywriter plays a vital role in providing an unparalleled consumer experience. As an important role within the Step2 Marketing Team, the Copywriter is a key storyteller for the brand and products, responsible for writing and editing creative, engaging and informative copy to drive sales and enhance the experience across all channels of the business. This position requires a customer-first mindset and a thorough understanding of Step2’s brand standards and voice with an ability to translate across channels. Successful candidates must be well-versed in SEO and SEM best practices. Creative thinking, the ability to multi-task, work effectively in a collaborative team environment, exceptional attention to detail and an eye for consistency are required in this role.
Location: Hybrid or Remote
Job Duties:
- Writes compelling copy across all marketing channels including product content (core, enhanced), blog posts, website, email campaigns, video scripts, digital and print ads, packaging, and more
- Consult on social content development
- Owns development and management of blog topic calendar
- Use SEO principles to create keyword rich content, optimized for eCommerce
- Develops and executes against a schedule of ongoing product content updates to remain relevant for eCommerce
- Develops and maintains the distinctive brand voice across all copy (aligned with brand guidelines)
- Uses data to guide copy decisions
- Tailor content to end use case to ensure all technical (features, specifications, etc.) as well as functional and emotional (benefits, moments, evoking emotions, etc.) aspects are covered
- Own SEO agency day-to-day management
- Conduct high-quality research and interviews and interpret copywriting briefs to understand project requirements
- Collaborate with designers, PR and other professionals on large- and small-scale marketing projects
- Edit and proofread copy as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a relevant field
- A minimum of 3-5 years of copywriting experience
- Prior experience writing eCommerce focused, keyword rich product copy
- Proficient SEO knowledge and experience
- A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment; internal customer service focused
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills
- Thrives in a fast-paced work environment and meets tight deadlines
- Ability to maintain organization and attention to detail while working on multiple projects at once
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong technology skills
- Knows how to use popular digital marketing tools, including content management software, search engine optimization software, and website analytics software
Work Environment:
This position will perform most job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, telephone, printer, etc. are essential.
