Steptoe LLP is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to work as a liaison between the business/lawyers and IT. This position will be responsible for eliciting, documenting, analyzing and refining technical solutions for the business and legal professional teams. Translate business requirements into clearly documented technical designs and requirements for onward assessment and action. Efficiently identify and support the implementation of impactful technology solutions supporting our lawyers, and legal and business professionals through innovative technologies, processes and approaches such as analytics, RPA, and AI.
Essential Functions:
- Act as liaison between business stakeholders, such as management, lawyers, other end users, and the information technology team.
- Translate conceptual user requirements into documented clear, detailed functional requirements.
- Shape business requirements by making recommendations and refining proposed solutions.
- Create artifacts, as appropriate, including business case documentation, scope documentation, and charters.
- Help resolve competing priorities amongst stakeholder groups by facilitating stakeholder discussions, and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure requirements are documented, understood, and properly incorporated into project plans.
- Support delivery teams as they develop, test, and deploy solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficacy and efficiency of existing processes.
- Work with various business process owners and stake holders to create the required reports and plans in support of the business' needs.
- Participate in the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software with end-users and stake holders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with IT implementation/development teams.
- Working knowledge of scripting and/or programming tools.
- Working knowledge of web and web server architectures.
- Working knowledge of database/multi-tier driven applications.
- Experience determining the explicit and implicit needs and requirements of various stakeholders.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4 years' experience).
- 2-3 years of experience in business analysis or a CBAP certification.
- Background working in professional services or in legal is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies is preferred.
- Understanding of ITIL framework is preferred.

- Responsibility & Accountability: prioritize own and team's work; anticipate consequences of actions, potential problems, or opportunities for change; sets and meet realistic deadlines. Ensure a high level of fiscal control and accountability for project budget.
Work Environment:
- Available to work in the office 9:00 - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
- Position may be hybrid with availability to attend in-person in-office meetings as required.
