Position Purpose:
Oversees the routing from a dispatch perspective for locations within assigned district. Acts as the liaison between Dispatcher, District Operations Manager, and Industrial Engineering. Responsible for measuring, implementing, training, and deploying dispatch plans for all field Dispatchers - Improvement initiatives as assigned and dictated by business need. The Dispatch Supervisor will be a Subject Matter Expert in all routing protocols.
Key Job Activities:
- Dispatch Support:
o Ensure compliance with “Dispatch SOP”, field transportation initiatives, captures and tracks their specific financial impact/strategic value contributions
o Effectively manage and maintain reports and dashboards for the Dispatchers that monitor KPI’s for Dispatcher performance and escalate opportunities as needed.
o Provide hands on trainings, coaching, and support to field Dispatchers by being a Subject Matter Expert on all routing areas of responsibility.
o Develop relationships with Dispatchers and establish a partnership that provides honest and accurate feedback
o Keeps all Dispatchers in the districts informed of current problems, changes and new developments in the company by conducting professional, organized and participative meetings
- Planning
o Monitor routes to ensure “optimal” use of assets (Headcount/Trucks day over day) to improve route efficiency.
o Conduct “Plant” visits to review areas of opportunity
o Schedule tasks, deadlines, and key milestones to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Reporting
o Resolves issues with the appropriate level of management.
o Effectively manages “scope creep” by building consensus about the necessity to change the original project plan.
- Goals
o Partner with District Operations Managers, Planning Managers, Dispatch Analysts, and Dispatchers to ensure standardization globally of routing processes
- Leadership
o Ability to effectively Manage a Budget
o Select, train, and develop an effective and efficient staff: Make every reasonable effort to select, train, and develop a qualified, diverse workforce
o Establish and communicate performance standards and objectives; conduct performance appraisals
o Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, transfers and dismissals
o Coach employees on educational and job opportunities, to enhance career development and keep them informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in the department and the company by conducting team meetings
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Education:
Experience (North America & LATAM):
- Education equivalent to graduation from High School, or GED equivalent; some College preferred demonstrating strong organization and change management skills
- One year of Operations and Leadership experience required, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple projects and Team Members simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- One to Three Years with Stericycle
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, Project, Visio, Outlook, and Access, Descartes, S4, Salesforce
- Demonstrates understanding of Transportations/Logistics, including routing and routing best practices
- Demonstrates strong business vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills.
- Descartes Experience and Knowledge Required: As manifested in a Pre-Requisite Exam taken prior to moving to the Interview Phase.

Salary : $46,200 - $58,500
