The Laboratory Assistant I is responsible for receiving and processing time-sensitive Laboratory samples, distributing samples to appropriate testing areas, and generating Customer test reports, ensuring accurate documentation.
1. Receives, sorts, and logs in samples for testing.
2. Distributes samples to appropriate testing areas.
3. Generates, reviews and/or maintains as appropriate outbound logs, records, filing system, laboratory testing datasheets, reports, shipping forms for return samples, receipts, Biological Indicator and supply purchases.
a. Performs data entry using Computer software.
b. Logs in consumables.
c. Performs record cleaning and keeping tasks.
4. Interfaces with Customers and couriers professionally and courteously.
5. Processes Biological Indicator sales to Customers, providing product pull and shipment.
6. Packages environmental monitoring plates for shipment to Customers.
7. Monitors inventory of supplies for Laboratory sales.
8. Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher-level management and performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
1. Knowledge of basic clerical equipment and processes.
2. Skill in written and oral communication.
3. Skill in performing basic computer operations using Microsoft Word and Excel.
4. Skill in organizing, planning, and prioritizing tasks.
5. Skill in documentation.
6. Skill in solving basic task-related problems.
7. Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
8. Skill in prioritizing the adherence to safety protocol at all times and monitoring self and environment for potential hazards.
9. Skill in time management.
10. Ability to interface professionally by phone or in person with Customers, employees and visitors.
11. Ability to perform data entry using keyboarding, and 10 key speed and accuracy.
12. Ability to work in a regulated environment that requires strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
13. Ability to pay careful attention to details.
14. Ability to read and comprehend rules, schedules, procedures, and instructions.
15. Ability to comprehend oral information.
16. Ability to work in high pressure situations.
17. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements or work environment.
18. Ability to work well in a team environment to support the work of others.
19. Ability to work autonomously.
Minimum two years experience in Customer service, data entry, office preferably in a regulated industry
