The Role
Do you like to work in a collaborative environment bringing your expertise to every project? The Engineering Technician, Special Sales Order (SSO) role may be right for you. It supports SSO projects, with the primary focus supporting the full process of design, fabrication and testing. The Engineering SSO Technician will work directly with the engineering team throughout all phases of the project. A strong foundation and working knowledge of both Mechanical and Electrical concepts will be required.
What You Will Do
- Assist with the design, development, fabrication and qualification of SSO project equipment.
- Develop and fabricate custom equipment based upon Customer needs.
- Execute tests on custom equipment using tools that measures temperature, electricity, light, flow, pressure, strain, force, distance, time, noise, weight etc.
- Perform and Operate the VHP test equipment to conduct both liquid and vapor Hydrogen Peroxide testing for Customer requirements.
- Collect and analyze test data/results, document results and outcomes. Provide analysis of results to the SSO Engineering Team.
- Support the design and fabrication/assembly of both working and visual prototype models. Materials include foam, plastics, and various metals.
- Support manufacturing to analyze equipment failures and factory work stoppage problems as well as provide solutions.
- Fabricates, repairs and improves designs of electro-mechanical equipment.
- Maintains detailed and up to date test data for test protocol results that will be stored in PLM.
What You Need to Be Successful
Two-year Associate Degree or equivalent, apprenticeship or comparable specialized study in mechanical and/or electrical engineering, beyond high school level and 3 years of hands-on Mechanical and Electrical experience. Must have broad base of knowledge with understanding and skills in the following areas: Electrical, Mechanical Fabrication, Minor Machining and Troubleshooting.
- Must be very proficient in the use of machine shop equipment and all hand tools including saws, sanders, drills, grinders, press, brake, shear, lathe, milling machine.
- Able to operate test equipment that measures temperature, electricity, light, flow, pressure, strain, force, distance, time, noise and weight.
- Can work from prints, sketches, written and verbal instructions.
- Reads wiring/electrical and piping schematics as well as engineering drawings.
- Electrical experience/training in use of and design of AC and DC circuits up to 480VAC 3ph.
- Proficient in computer use and applications and familiarity with Data Acquisition systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Travel to Customers and operations sites, including up to 10% internationally.
- Self-motivated, team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
What's Helpful
Experience and knowledge of the following areas preferred:
- Experienced in designing and fabricating Customer end-use electro-mechanical equipment.
- Prior experience in Document Retention or PLM Software preferred.
- Strong electro-mechanical equipment troubleshooting skills.
