What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Sterling Hospitality?
We are seeking candidates for the role of Barista who can provide a warm, friendly, cheerful & genuine experience to all our guests by delivering exceptional service and world-class hospitality to every guest, every time.
Daily Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Arrive to work on time, dressed in full uniform
- Follow Dress for Success opening and closing Cashier procedures
- Count bank before and after service
- Attend pre-shift meetings
- Answer phone in friendly and courteous manner following Sterling’s phone etiquette guidelines
- Make sure cash is in drawer prior to opening and that you are fully ready for your first guest
- Always greet the Guest in warm and welcoming manner
- Make coffees to order, put out condiments, cream, etc. for breakfast.
- Make sure trays, plastic ware, napkins are set out
- Maintain all temperature logs and cooler/freezer temperature logs that are assigned
- Properly ring menu items into POS system
- Complete sales transaction by collecting payment; only accepts approved methods of payment; properly counts money and provides accurate change when applicable
- Maintain beverage station and condiments. Refill plastic wares, trays, etc.
- Make sure signage is properly displayed and correct for breakfast and lunch service
- Clean cashier station, beverage station and dining room tables. Follow cleaning schedule
- Follow Dress for Success procedures to prepare for the following day’s opening
- Make sure all beverage coolers, cereal displays, snack items, chips and “Up for Grabs” items are stocked and fronted before close of shift
- Keep cashier station, drink station and condiment areas neat and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used such as coffee and drink dispensers
- Assist the “back of the house” with any cleaning, mopping or closing tasks that may be necessary
- Check out with Manager on Duty before clocking out
- You may be scheduled for additional hours based on the client needs and catering needs
- Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards
- Follow proper food storage guidelines where applicable; label, date and rotate items when required
- Must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the following equipment and machines used in the performance of this job including, but not limited to: POS system, telephone, coffee / tea machine
- Follow Sterling Culinary Management Cash Handling Procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of high volume Barista experience
- 1 year of customer service or food service industry experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Early availability Monday-Friday beginning at 5:30am
