Job Summary –
Functions as a working shift resource to provide direct oversight, assistance, support and problem resolution to Respiratory Staff, and may be scheduled for regular staff assignments as needed or requested. This includes organization of assignments and coverage of workloads. Provides superior customer service as referenced in the Steward Service of Excellence Standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Degree from an AMA approved program in respiratory therapy, Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in critical care environment, academic teaching institution preferred.
- Previous Leadership experience with demonstrated clinical excellence required.
Minimum skills/abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be flexible with strong time management skills to accommodate a continuously changing environment.
- Demonstrated clinical excellence.
- Recent acute critical care experience.
- Meditech
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Certification/Licensure:
- Licensed in Respiratory Therapy by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- RRT Required.
- Current BLS and ACLS required
- NRP preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for all essential functions listed for the Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Possess, maintain and deliver high clinical standards in the assessment, administration, education, and observation of respiratory therapy as ordered by Licensed Independent Practitioners.
- Provide direct oversight, assistance, support, and problem resolution to respiratory staff in all aspects of respiratory care, including organization, assignment, and coverage of workloads.
- Responsible for resolving call offs while on site during shift and making appropriate actions to assure adequate staffing levels for following shift. Responsible to appropriately and timely address any issues or concerns that may develop. Provides coverage in absence of department leadership.
- Act as a resource for development and troubleshooting for respiratory care staff. Actively supports and participates with clinical content and presentation of regularly scheduled intradepartmental meetings.
- Assist in development of clinical care policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensure consistency in the application of those objectives.
- Assist in the on-going evaluation, in-servicing, and purchasing of both new and existing equipment and supplies, providing input into departmental selection and function to ensure appropriate usage, inventory, and cost effectiveness.
- Assist with respiratory rotations and clinical observations from multiple schools and disciplines, including but not limited to respiratory, nursing, emergency response, potential candidates, and high school programs.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives including data development and data collection.
- Responsible for actively organizing weekly department meeting and participate on other hospital meetings or committees as requested by Respiratory Leadership.
- Billing –reconciling daily billing.
