Surgical Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Functions as a surgical assistant in operative procedures under the direct supervision of a staff surgeon in the Operating Room.
• Follows established procedural guides in preparation of sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures under the supervision of the RN.
• Assists all members of the surgical team in providing continuity of patient care according.

• Positions patient for procedure following safe positioning techniques and correct body alignment.

• EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • MD, DO, or Physician Assistant licensed in the State of Florida
    • Surgical Assistant/Technologist certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical
• Assistant (NBSTSA) or the American Board of Surgical Assistant (ABSA)
  • • A Foreign Medical School Graduate certified by the NBSTS or ABSA
    • BLS and/or ACLS certified.
    • House Physician licensed in the State of Florida certified as Surgical Assistant /Technologist by NBSTSA
    • or ABSA
  • Experience (Type & Length): 2-5 Years Surgical Assistant Experience working in an acute care hospital preferre
