Ecommerce platforms are complex and working with an experienced professional that understands the application of our platform and how it intersects with merchants’ needs is essential.

As part of the Revenue team, the Sales Engineer is someone who possesses exceptional knowledge of our subscription and recurring platform’s complexities. In partnership with Account Executives, you will generate new business through assessing the potential application of sticky.io’s products and services and offer solutions that meet customers’ needs. The Sales Engineer partners in conducting customer needs analyses that helps uncover how best to curate a personalized demo, showcase a feature/functionality the sticky.io platform offers demonstrating the benefits of building their ecommerce business or steps to migrate from another platform. This role involves partnering with a cross section of ecommerce merchants’ leadership, technical team and influencers to communicate the overall value proposition leading to the successful securing of new business to sticky.io.  This role is instrumental in providing merchant feedback for future product development and evolution, allowing sticky.io to maintain a competitive advantage in the market.

As a Sales Engineer, you are responsible for uncovering the needs of a merchant in all phases of their evolution and representing both technical and functional aspects of the sticky.io suite of products/services. You will also propose how these benefit prospective customers in partnership with Sales to secure revenue for sticky.io. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with the Sales team as a key technical advisor and advocate for the sticky.io platform while mapping value to the prospect's needs

  • Build strong relationships with customers’ technical and business executives

  • Present our solutions, give product demos and handle technical objections or concerns

  • Propose technical and creative business solutions in support of sales objectives

  • Exercises discretion and judgment regarding product specifications required to address customer requirements, assess customers’ needs, and works with internal Solutions team to recommend solutions that optimize potential opportunity

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to receive the support needed to accomplish technical sales goals

  • Prepare, research and provide input into technical RFPs as a key point of influence for the Revenue team to provide product knowledge and technology expertise to assist in winning the business

  • Maintains a thorough understanding of technical sales techniques and processes including the ability to understand customer needs, overcome objections, assist in the development of business cases, and technical deal closing

  • Thorough understanding of all sticky.io’s product offerings

  • Demonstrates personal commitment and interest in continued professional development

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • High energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humor and urgency

  • Implement strategies to improve trial win rates, conque the competition and develop stronger technical buyer relationships

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent

  • 2 years of sales engineering, technical support or engineering experience

  • Experience in the ecommerce industry (i.e., billing software, payment processing, ecommerce platforms, fulfillment)

  • Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level

  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close

  • Compensation experience having OTE tied to revenue results

  • Experience working with sales and a sharp business acumen

  • Proven ability to position products against competition

  • Demonstrable experience developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions

  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills

  • Confident and comfortable with ambiguity that stems from a hyper-growth environment
