Position Overview

A Network Administratoror Network and Server Administrator, oversees an organization’s Server and SAN systems or database networks to ensure proper maintenance and security. Their duties include working with other IT staff and company employees to identify network or computer system needs, installing new server hardware or software and using employee feedback to isolate issues.

Essential Job Functions


Support Desk

  • Coordinates with all IT areas to resolve problems if necessary.
  • Responds to 24/7 after-hours tech support for High priority calls via phone or support desk via required rotation. And Escalations.

Hardware / Software

  • Support and maintain corporate servers and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Generates and installs vendor system software products and components.
  • Maintain updates and backup major operating and networking systems to ensure interface of operational functions and application systems and to identify and correct software problems. 
  • Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components.
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Patch all Server and Network appliances.
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Update and implement PCI standards by filling out QSA’s for locations and scanning assets quarterly.
  • Technical Writing Procedures. Update Knowledge Base and document changes on our internal WIKI

LAN/WAN

  • Installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal network downtime.
  • Review LAN/WAN performance and security.
  • Upgrades all related network infrastructure.
  • Support and maintain all store location networks, including cabling and rack management.
  • Verify and manage all network devices and system backups.
  • Reviews system logs.
  • Work with ISP Vendors and escalate all issues. 
  • Manages Server System updates and backups.
  • Update network topology. Update Knowledge Base and document changes on our internal WIKI

Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principal functions of high-level operating and networking systems and related software components. 
  • Knowledge of detailed operation of the server and peripheral hardware equipment components as they pertain to and interface with operating and networking system software and application systems. 
  • Knowledge of computerized file organization and access techniques. 
  • Ability to generate and install, and maintain computer operating and networking systems. 
  • Ability to research and evaluate the suitability of computer software and hardware products for a given use. 
  • Ability to diagnose and correct program and system failures and malfunctions. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to develop technical standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field; or equivalent applicable work experience in computer operations and networking management.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Network Administration
  • Training and certification in A , Network , Cisco, and Juniper Experience.
  • Knowledge of Acumera, Meraki, and Watchguard Firewalls
  • Knowledge of computer maintenance, software support, network design, cabling, communications, and hardware selections and installation.
  • Comfortable working in a dog friendly office, there are a lot of furry friends around!
