Director of Concerts, Marketing and Publicity

Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume)
Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of administrative experience with specialized experience related to concert management, publicity, scheduling, and/or the music industry. Supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge of Classical and other kinds of music. Demonstrated strong understanding of technical issues related to the performance of Classical and other genres of music. Demonstrated significant interpersonal and communication skills, including solid writing and proofreading. Demonstrated ability to work with budgets. Experience maintaining social media accounts, publicity materials, audience cultivation, and/or maintaining websites.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Music, Musical Theater, Technical Theater, Marketing, Social Media, Communications, or minors in any of these related areas. Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Music, Music Theater, or Marketing. Experience with scheduling software and maintenance of production calendars. Experience with Excel, Microsoft, Adobe, Meta, Google Suites, website development and maintenance, and/or other tools for publicity and propagation of social media accounts. Experience, as evidenced by provided programs, of concert series management.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Director of Concerts, Marketing, and Publicity will oversee the administration of over 300 concerts per year. The position requires knowledge of classical and vernacular music, excellent writing and proofreading skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with faculty, students, staff, and relevant campus entities. Will be responsible for scheduling, communications, and organizational using software such as Excel, Microsoft, Adobe, Meta, Google Suites.

Duties:

  • Concert Administration - Oversee the administration of concerts, establish venue use policies, schedule department performance spaces, manage concerts, supervising stage crews and teaching assistants.
  • Maintain the Music Department website and the publicizing of events through various forms of marketing: email, social media, production of a brochure, and other means of outreach.
  • Maintain a database of alumni and donors.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

At times it may be required to act as the concert manager. The day of a concert, it may be required to move equipment with the aid of dollies, carts, etc.

Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
