Stop Soldier Suicide is looking for a Wellness Center Team Manager who wants to go beyond “making a difference.” We want someone who steps up every day to fuel the lifesaving work we do with American veterans and service members.

As frontline supervisors guiding a team of behavioral health professionals, the Wellness Center Team Manager plays a pivotal role in guiding Stop Soldier Suicide’s client-centered wraparound approach to preventing veteran and military service member suicide. The WC Team Manager works in close collaboration with the Clinical Director (CD), Associate Clinical Director (ACD), and Wellness Center Operations Director (WCOD) in managing the day-to-day operational, administrative, and clinical performance of Wellness Coordinators (WCs) assigned to their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides administrative oversight of the day-to-day operations of their team within the Wellness Center, including assignment of clients, caseload management, timekeeping and leave, scheduling of training, staffing of cases, IT needs and issues, and team member communications.
- Ensures direct reports comply with all policies and procedures as set forth in the SSS Teammate Handbook and as otherwise may be established.
- Ensures direct reports adhere to established service modalities and SOPs regarding client intake, documentation, wellbeing and suicide risk assessment, and clinical Interviewing as set forth in the SSS Blueprint and as otherwise may be established.
- In coordination with the CD, ACD, and WCOD, evaluates the day-to-day competency of Wellness Coordinators and works collaboratively with the CD, ACD, and WCOD to foster professional development within the team.
- Maintains linkages and relationships with internal staff and external partners and stakeholders as necessary and appropriate to achieve client outcomes.
- Ensures Wellness Coordinators’ effective provision of client support, cross-systems crisis prevention, suicide risk assessment, and wellness planning.
- Oversees initial onboarding, clinical training and shadowing cases, Salesforce training, and other activities necessary to become a successful member of SSS.
- Assists with feedback to the CD, ACD, and WCOD regarding individual team member performance and collective performance of the team.
- Provides guidance and assistance to WCs on managing emergency crisis situations, including locating and activating local crisis responders such as emergency services, mobile crisis teams, law enforcement agencies, hospital emergency departments, and walk-in crisis centers.
- Provides back-up support with client cases when a crisis situation arises as well as when a WC is working with another client or absent and not able to provide support/outreach.
- Utilizes biopsychosocial methodologies during team meetings to discuss strategies to help clients overcome challenges and achieve goals, including involving the client’s family and support system members as appropriate for optimal client outcomes.
- Provides guidance to WCs on providing solutions to clients’ mental health care treatment needs, including identifying appropriate treatment providers and alternative interventions such as group therapy.
- Assists Wellness Coordinators with the selection and prioritization of cases to be reviewed as a team and at case review sessions.
- Identifies and coordinates training and technical assistance needs for providers, natural support, and other components of the system of care.
- Evaluates client information to accurately determine and monitor suicide risk levels, develop crisis response plans, and conduct action planning.
- Displays positive, supportive, solutions-focused perspectives when giving input or sharing protocol updates/changes. Ensures interoffice professionalism and effective communications among WCs.
- Builds and maintains rapport within professional boundaries with clients.
- Conducts assigned reporting and documentation in a timely manner.
- Conducts quarterly Wellness Coordinator competency assessments.
- Participates as needed in internal and external meetings with SSS staff and third parties.
- Performs job duties autonomously with limited clinical oversight and related compliance supervision.
- Models appropriate professional decorum and works within the required scope of practice.

QUALIFICATIONS
We’re looking for individuals who are committed to the mission, vision, and values of Stop Soldier Suicide. In addition, the Wellness Center Team Manager should possess the following key attributes:
- Commitment to the mission of SSS to reduce veteran suicide to civilian parity by 2030.
- Graduation from an accredited college/university with a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or closely related field.
- Current full independent license as an LCMHC, LCSW, LMFT, psychologist or related field.
- Minimum of three years post-graduate experience in social work, psychology, or a closely related field, including supervisory experience.
- Minimum of two years' experience working with a clinical team in a crisis management environment.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with a behavioral health population required; experience in counseling individuals at suicide risk is highly preferred.
- Prior management or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Background and experience in the field of suicide prevention, early intervention and treatment, including proficiency in one or more clinical modalities utilized by SSS is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in performing suicide risk assessment and crisis response planning is highly preferred.
- Military background and/or experience working with veterans or active duty personnel is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to support and motivate staff, encourage and nurture professional development and personal growth, and help build a strong and productive teams.
- Ability and sensitivity in working with a variety of clients with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins.
- Effective organizational and time-management skills including ability to prioritize and problem-solve through difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to present a positive, friendly manner in all situations and be flexible and adaptive to change.
- Ability to work independently, as well as within a team-focused environment.

OBJECTIVES AND KEY RESULTS (OKRs)
This individual is responsible for meeting the following Objectives and Key Results during the first 90-180 days:
- In collaboration with the Wellness Center Operations Director, Clinical Director, and Associate Clinical Director, ensure SSS meets its identified goals regarding the development of Wellness Center SOPs and support tools for implementing support coordination within the SSS service model, including the creation of core competencies and measurement processes to ensure staff fidelity to model.
- Monitor Wellness Coordination activities and ensure compliance with SOPs governing service provision and documentation.
- Ensure SSS meets its Net Promoter Score (NPS) benchmarks related to client satisfaction with the quality and usefulness of the Life Coaching Program provided by SSS.
