What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager Payroll/Benefits position at StorageMart?
Duties:
- Oversee the day-to-day work of the Payroll and Benefits staff. Mentor staff, provide timely feedback, and conduct annual reviews with recommendations for compensation.
- Serve as subject matter expert for complex payroll and/or benefits issues, working closely with the Director of Payroll for resolution.
- Identify and correct any issues within current (and future) processes.
- Work with HRIS vendor support team to resolve issues at the system level. This will include entering help tickets, monitoring their progress and resolution.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of tax submittals, garnishments, and other payments associated with payroll.
- Working closely with Accounting, ensure that benefits (and other vendor) invoices are done timely and accurately. Address any discrepancies within the General Ledger as appropriate.
- Work closely with insurance vendors to ensure proper, timely, and accurate enrollment and termination of benefits.
- With benefits staff, set up enrollment for new employees as well as the annual Open Enrollment.
- As needed, may create files for upload into the HRIS, process off-cycle payrolls, and communicate as appropriate.
- May be required to do some data management/entry into other systems, such as retirement, COBRA, etc.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year degree in Business, Finance, or Human Resources is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience is required.
- A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above.
- Must be able to navigate in various softwares and databases at an intermediate to advanced level.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as employee handbooks, software vendor materials, federal and state regulations.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as hours, earnings, deductions, taxes, etc.
