The Stow Company is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Financial Analyst position located at our Holland, MI office location. We are the country’s premier source for custom closets and organizational solutions; designed, custom-cut, and shipped directly to our clients.
Primary Purpose of Position:
This role partners with multiple cross-functional operations support team members both at our corporate and plant locations - utilizing their analyst expertise specific to manufacturing. The ideal candidate is data driven and can not only analyze information, but effectively communicate their findings to others, while proactively highlighting areas of improvement. This role will perform daily general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, and be a key contributor to planning and forecast cycles. In this highly visible role, you will interact with key members of management, and support critical projects. Analyst (Shared Service)
- Key contributor to support monthly re-forecasts, and support annual budget, which includes in-depth analysis required to support methodologies used.
- Conducts scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess potential impacts on the business.
- Supports management decision making and achievement of organizational goals via preparation of financial and operational analysis. Areas of analysis can include revenues, expenses, manufacturing performance, profitability, cash flow, among other things.
- Requires use of problem solving, critical thinking, communication, business acumen, a learning mindset, and curiosity to analyze queried data, conduct data storytelling and reporting, and data modeling using various tools like, SQL Database, Adaptive, Excel, M2k, and SAP.
- Use of strong research skills to stay ahead of current trends and methodologies in management accounting and reporting, with the ability to then recommend and implement relevant accounting changes that are compliant with GAAP.
- Execute value-added analysis and modeling for special projects and initiatives, as well as lead continuous improvement initiatives. Example, Streamline Balance Sheet Reconciliation process focusing on accuracy, timeliness, and ability to audit thoroughly.
Cost (Holland Location)
- Responsible for analysis for all freight carriers for the Holland/Nampa locations and completion of the monthly accruals.
- Work closely with operations and respective support teams to analyze production costs. Clearly explaining variances and opportunities for improvement.
General (Shared Service)
- Review and investigate accounting transactions to improve data accuracy.
- Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process ensuring timely, accurate results complete with monitoring of performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance.
- Ensure balance sheet account reconciliations are completed in a timely manner, fully supported, and follow GAAP.
- Support annual audit engagements by completing, reviewing, and submitting auditor requests as well as support of annual audited financial statements and tax requirements
- Assists in implementation of ERP system and/or other software as needs arise.
- Ensures GAAP is incorporated into the management of the business.
- Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3 years’ experience in manufacturing

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must have strong technical and analytical skills with solid cost accounting background
- Ability to analyze large volume of financial data and prepare analysis, financial reports, statements, and projections with strong attention to detail within aggressive deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to make solid, objective, ethical decisions
- Continuous improvement mindset with focus on elimination of non-value-add activities
- Able to maintain strict confidence in financial sensitive information and demonstrate a high level of integrity
- Must have excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills
