What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Stowe Cider?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position ensures customers have a positive and memorable experience at Stowe Cider/Shakedown Street. The candidate must have a passion for craft cider and other Vermont-crafted beverages and food, the desire to learn the details of the cider we produce and other products we sell and fulfill our mission of being organic, authentic, and wholehearted in every aspect of our day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greeting customers promptly and courteously
- Promoting the sale of cider, food, and merchandise in the taproom.
- Describing cider styles, cider-making techniques, and brand history while providing customers with a unique and memorable tableside/ bar service.
- Setting and cleaning up daily operations and special events
- Operate POS systems and handle cash transactions accurately
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations
- Assisting with in-house events
Additional front-of-house duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Step in as host, busser, food runner, and bartender as needed
- Monitor inventory levels and restock FOH supplies
- Spot-cleaning customer-facing spaces as needed
- Stocking cider and retail merchandise in the tasting room
- Preparing orders for pick up
- Packaging shipments for direct-to-consumer cider orders
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Excellent people skills; able to project a friendly and helpful manner at all times
- Able to perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Responsive and flexible with last-minute requests
- Willingness to be assigned other tasks or be asked to participate in different on-site and off-site activities as needed.
- Work in a team environment
- Must have a love for cider!
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 to apply, due to liquor compliance requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and/or qualified experience required
- Valid DLC 1st class or manufacturer training certificate required
- Bartending and or service/hospitality experience.
- Professional appearance and demeanor
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to lift to 40 pounds
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for up to 8 hours a day
- Must be able to work Fridays and Saturdays
- Weekends, holidays, and evenings required
