Summary:
Position works among many departments engaging in design, planning, execution, control, and supervision of all supply chain activities with the objective of creating value. This is accomplished by building a competitive infrastructure, leveraging worldwide logistics, synchronizing supply with demand, and measuring performance globally. It is the task of Manager is to understand how each step in the production, manufacturing and distribution process works together, optimizing efficiency and reducing waste. Supply Chain Managers coordinate the activities of different teams to get products to customers on time, considering factors like transportation time, product returns and other delays. They prepare long-term schedules for the company to ensure they have enough stock at any given time to meet demand.
Reports to: CEO
Direct Reports: Warehouse Supervisor and Production Scheduler
Education:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, accounting, logistics, or related field. Master’s degree in supply chain management, or a related field is a bonus.
Required Experience:
- At least five (5) years of experience in manufacturing involving a leadership role, or an equivalent combination of five (5) or more years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, operations, or related discipline before entering a Supply Chain Manager role.
- Understanding of procedural best practices in supply chain management.
- Experience working within the textiles, automotive, marine, or aviation manufacturing area is highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Establish data base parameters for Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and related production software systems.
- Proficient skills in SAP and Excel are mandatory.
- Establish and maintain business practices, procedures and documentation that ensures control of supplier releases, incoming material shipments, receiving documents, inventory levels, material storage and movement and shipments to the customer.
- Manage and monitor the activities of subordinates’ accuracy and integrity of all materials related to record keeping.
- Ability to lead, train and mentor employees individually, and as a team; superb communication (both oral and written), skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Working with design and merchandising partners to present material trend forecast and recommend new fabrications, processes, technologies, and finishes that would align with the Corporate R&D Strategy connected to pricing/quality objectives.
- Provides relevant material market information and intelligence through business partners and field product creation centers, inclusive of fabric direction, market trends, competitor activities, material volumes, and recent innovations or developments or material insights on strategy.
- Ensure product integrity of all business channels by overseeing the testing of all materials to meet the needs of customers and business requirements as defined by R&D Quality protocols.
- Analyze historic material data to help influence the strategy for the seasonal material toolbox. Drive business efficiencies on material developments and maintain a balanced material portfolio of carryover versus new fabrications.
- Maintain material information specification sheets.
- Supervise and mentor material developers in all responsibilities ensuring on-time, on quality and on trend material approvals.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
- Certification by the Association for Supply Chain Management, or similar certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), or Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) program is highly desirable, but not required.
Responsibility:
- Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, including those outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and/or Environmental Protection. Agency (EPA).
Tasks & Activities:
- Establish goals and action plans for continued reduction in the cost of transportation, package handling, piece price and inventory levels.
- Monitor and measure supplier performance to ensure compliance with established quality and delivery standards.
- Manage the data and maintenance of the Bill of Material Database. This includes monitoring the performance of effectively date implementation, changes to Billing of material and loading of new end items.
- Minimize inventory levels on balance out parts and when appropriate, submit an obsolescence claim.
- Maintain excellent customer relations including supplier delivery performance.
- Willingness to travel to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.
