Strata-G is seeking an experienced Transportation Specialist with the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.
• Performs non-hazardous, radioactive, hazardous, and mixed waste shipments.
• Performs waste packaging, marking, labeling, and load securement determinations.
• Provides support to Waste Management Specialist and Transportation Manager during waste generation and packaging operations.
• Prepares shipping papers/records and waste manifests in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Coordinates transportation logistics.
• Interfaces with treatment/storage and disposal facilities, generators, other customers, and regulators to resolve specific transportation and waste management related concerns.
• Initiates and maintains waste profiles for processing/disposal facilities.
• Interprets and implements federal and state regulations and DOE orders as they pertain to the shipping of hazardous materials.
• Verifies and performs all necessary safety checks, compliance checks and final inspections of all packages prior to transport to ensure compliance with DOT, DOE, federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensures carrier compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Requirements.
• Interprets waste management and transportation rules, regulations, and policies to assist generators in the proper compliant management of waste.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:

Requirements:
• Associate in engineering or related science, or 7 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience shipping hazardous materials.
• Advanced training in DOT requirements covering air, highway and rail shipments of hazardous materials.
• Training, knowledge, and experience in health physics and radiation protection.
• Ability to calculate radiological and/or hazardous material activity to determine proper shipping name and waste classification.
• Must have thorough knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) requirements.
