Join a team devoted to "Doing the Most Good." The Salvation Army Midland Divisional Headquarters is looking for a full-time Custodian with experiences.
Position Summary:
This position is expected to perform all types of building custodial cleaning duties to include seasonal grounds upkeep, room set-up rooms for meetings, and other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general custodial duties which include but are not limited to: clean restrooms, empty trash, vacuum/sweep/mop floors, pick up trash, dust, wax wood, clean spots in carpet, wash inside windows, replace light bulbs, clean spots on walls, mow grass, trim shrubbery, and grass, remove snow and ice from sidewalks and entry door area, etc. See attached DHQ cleaning schedule for details and expected frequency.
- Move/pickup furniture, equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Make pickups and deliveries driving a box truck as necessary.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, visitors, co-workers, and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors, and clients; respect of others’ property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about visitors, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
Accountability:
This position reports to and is supervised by the Maintenance Supervisor. Position does not supervise other staff.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED with one-year related work experience. Combination of training and experience will be considered.
- Ability to read and comprehend a job description, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheet.
- Basic communication skills to facilitate good communications with visitors and other employees.
- Pass The Salvation Army MVR check and within 90 days of employment, must obtain a valid driver’s license to operate a box truck.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
Capable of frequently lifting 30 pounds, occasionally lifting to 100 pounds. Occasionally moves 100 pounds or more using dolly/cart/truck. Majority of lifting is from floor to waist height. Some lifting required above waist and shoulder height, but it will be at a reduced weight. Employee will have to bend, stoop, crouch, stand, walk, carry and push/pull items to accomplish this job. Occasionally climb a ladder to work (replace light bulbs, etc.). Some of this work will be outdoors and it will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
