Cloud Data Solutions Manager

This role is responsible for the cloud solutions architecture that supports the organization in achieving its data and analytics strategic goals. Your thought leadership spanning both technology and business with play a vital role in the creation of solutions for customer and internal facing data systems. While advancing and promoting enterprise data capabilities, you will provide leadership over the Modern Data Platform. The position reports into our Information Technology department, and will be part of projects that align with key strategic initiatives to meet SEI’s business objectives. In your role, you will lead data engineers and be part of a team that is responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment and support of cloud based (GCP), mission critical data and reporting applications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Leads architecture design, analytics strategies, and the implementation of the Modern Data Platform in GCP
• Leads a team of data engineers in designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-performance, end-to-end data analytics solutions
• Works closely with Program Leaders to create and maintain a business capabilities roadmap that maximizes business value
• Guides change management to thoughtfully make the transition from on-premise to cloud based to minimize cost and business impact
• Designs and builds cloud ready applications/integrations
• Designs and builds cloud-compatible CI/CD frameworks to deploy solutions on GCP
• Continuously improves implementation processes through the selection, design, and implementation of automation tools
• Oversees architecture for the data lake and data warehouse and supports their implementation in BigQuery
• Effectively designs solutions spanning data at rest stored in the databases, data in flight used for operational integration, and data provisioning
• Designs and develops data integration solutions in GCP leveraging Google Data Flow, Google Pub/Sub, REST APIs, Java and Python scripts
• Advances and promotes enterprise data standards, metadata management, business semantics, data modeling and information lifecycle management
• Ensures system monitoring and alerts exist to effectively manage SLA requirements and communication

Job Skills:

• Strong technical skills and ability to understand the business strategy and implement that vision through technology
• Excellent customer relationship management skills and ability to partner to collectively work against business opportunities
• Broad cloud application and infrastructure architectural experience in a complex enterprise environment
• Hands-on experience in architecting and designing solutions leveraging cloud services; GCP certification and experience is a plus including: BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Google Data Flow, CDAP, REST APIs, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Bigtable, and Java/Python scripting
• Strong scripting and automation experience
• Experience with real-time and batch ingest patterns into cloud services
• Strong understanding of data governance and how regulations can impact data storage and processing solutions
• Experience with billing and cost optimization in the cloud
• Experience with CI/CD tools and processes
• Knowledge of compute systems:  Compute Engine, App Engine, and Container Engine on GCP
• Knowledge of Security and Identity and Access Management (IAM)
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, debugging and tracing
• Knowledge of cloud computing concepts like Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), DNS, CDN, Load Balancing and Auto Scaling
• Performance tuning experience
• Experience building and implementing design and code standards and conducting code review
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate decision making and optimal planning at all levels of the organization
• Passionate about learning the latest technology

Work Experience:

• 3+ years leading teams that deploy enterprise data and analytics solutions
• 7+ years designing and building end-to-end data ingestion, storage, and processing solutions: ETL, data modeling, pipelines and connectors, integration hubs, data access (SOA, API, SQL), platforms (traditional servers, cloud, hybrid), database types (traditional, proprietary MPP)
• 3+ years architecting, developing, and deploying scalable enterprise data solutions and applications in a cloud platform

Education:

• From an accredited institution; Bachelor’s degree required

• Must be able to travel 5% of time.

• Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
