Purpose Statement:
As part of the Strategic Focus Educational Services the College and Career Advising Program (CCAP), the position will work in partnership with a college and career readiness team to serve as a coach and mentor to students. Provides direct supportive academic services and college/career readiness guidance to students. The position coordinates college-and-career-related programming to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner and closely monitors progress towards these goals and takes appropriate remedial action when necessary. Successful applicants are leaders with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
- Assist students with setting goals and identifying, planning for, and overcoming potential obstacles and defining steps in education and career planning
- Build rapport and trust with students to support successful goal completion; monitor student progress toward goals; conduct follow up with program participants; offer advisement as needed; support instructors and program efforts to infuse instruction with persistence and success strategies
- Assist students and instructors with solving issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals, persistence and attendance
- Develop and present lessons, workshops, or courses on career and/or college readiness and skills; develop relationships with college and other training providers to stay abreast of community needs and college programs in order to provide students with up-to-date and accurate information; establishes and maintains effective working partnerships with key stakeholders
- Monitor student assessment scores, attendance and maintain advising log or case management files to track contact hours, issues, and outcomes of advising sessions and student portfolios with appropriate documentation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as needed

Essential Job Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree from accredited university in Education, Social Work, Psychology and/or other related field
- Two Years of experience working with schools or higher education programs preferred Experience with personal, academic and career advising/counseling.
- One Year of experience working within low socio-economic environments.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, according to business needs and requirements.

- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
Essential Functions:
- Meet weekly with youth individually to assess youth goals and needs.
- Provide goal setting and career planning services to youth.
- Case management of files, including student closeouts upon graduation.
- Assisting with the college application, admission, and enrollment processes.
- Registration of students for college entrance and placement examinations (including ACT, SAT, TSI).
- Provide education and guidance to students as it relates to financial aid, grant, and scholarship applications.
- Plan, facilitate and conduct life skills classes and college retention seminars to ensure social competence among students.
- Assisting students with scholarship applications and other opportunities to broaden their horizons and embrace new opportunities (internships, camps).
- Facilitate college transitions for students through programming, mentor matching, one‐on‐one contact.
- Monitor student progress and refer students for additional services as needed.
- Research and identify college/education funding opportunities for students.
- Identify and coordinate academic programs and college tours as needed, plan college events on/off campus, and assist with field trips.
- Document youth progress and participation in program services and prepare and submit monthly reports.
- Recommend best practice curricula and methods of ensuring youth are college and career ready.

- Follow Program protocols and requirements.
- Work closely with the College & Career Coordinator, and College Advisor to coordinate outreach and retention efforts for college and career activities.
- Supervisory Responsibilities Manages volunteers, interns, and/or work study students when assigned.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned by the CCAP Program Manager and Strategic Focus Educational Service Executive Leadership.
Schedule: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There may be some flexibility to this based on campus.
