Personal Assistance Provider
Strategic Resources, Inc. SRI is seeking committed and passionate professionals to provide personal assistance services in support of persons with Targeted Disabilities within the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. (ICE)
Overview: ICE Personal Assistance Providers assist and help care for persons with Targeted Disabilities supporting personal related needs while on work status, whether in the office or at home, on work related travel, or participating in employer sponsored events. Personal care tasks could include, but not limited to: removing and putting on clothing; showering and grooming; feeding (including minor food preparation); transferring the employee, regardless of weight/size, from a wheelchair or scooter to and from a bed (if on travel status), vehicle, toilet, etc.; aiding accessing the restroom/using the lavatory; retrieving personal items of the employee from luggage/purse/wallet; being attentive to the employee's needs regarding hygiene, proper positioning, and injury prevention. During periods not servicing the eligible ICE employee the PAS Provider performs a secondary service accomplishing office administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and electronic document review.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Travel and Temporary Duty Assignments. Accompany the eligible employee on official travel, temporary duty assignments (TDYs), etc. Assistance may include overnight travel.
- Survey available conference and meeting rooms to determine whether there is space to provide PAS based on the needs of the eligible employee.
- To the extent necessary to provide services/care, carry packages, lift light equipment, file, reach and grab objects out of the eligible employee's reach.
- Accurately observe and recognize changes from "usual" observations, discuss with the eligible employee, and report to ODCR.
- Assist the eligible employee(s) at work related meetings and appointments, as needed, to provide care.
- Maintain a safe environment that meets the physical and personal needs of eligible employees. Adhere to the appropriate risk management practices including; immediately report accidents.
- Participate in, plan, and organize work, prioritizing the specific needs of each eligible employee under the PAS Provider's care.
- Properly and safely lift, move, transfer, and/or position eligible employees in wheelchairs, complying with policies, procedures, and specific protocols.
- Observe all appropriate boundaries when caring for eligible employees. Ensure rights of eligible employees, while following all privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Required Skills, Education, Experience & Abilities:
- Possess a desire and compassion for assisting individuals with disabilities.
- Minimum of twelve months experience providing the same or similar services. (Two Years Preferred)
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate's Degree Preferred)
- Must Possess Basic Life Support Certification
- Experience safeguarding confidential information, and complying with the Privacy Act and applicable regulations on individual privacy.
- Ability to exercise a great deal of independent judgment.
- Be capable to travel with the client during temporary travel
- S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident; must have resided in the U.S. or its Territories for three of last five years, except as related to Federal Employment; Federal or Civilian Sponsorship.
