We are seeking a Lab Technician to join our team in Cincinnati, Ohio. This individual will perform general mechanical and material testing utilizing various equipment to support project engineers. Testing will span across a wide variety of industries and applications, including: medical device, consumer goods, transportation, packaging, etc.
Responsibilities
As a Lab Technician you will be responsible for working with project engineers to execute test plans to assist with failure investigations, design feasibility, design verification, and other laboratory testing applications. Responsibilities will include:
- Performing product testing in support of our various teams and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment
- Collecting and organizing large numbers of samples for testing
- Observing and documenting trends while testing; recording, organizing and archiving data
- Operating basic test equipment and building test samples
- Assisting with the development of new and non-standard test methods
- Summarizing test data in report format
- Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory work area
- Receiving and inspecting products for testing
- Ordering and stocking material and equipment
- Utilizing fork lift for moving materials (sit down/propane)
- Utilizing shop fabrication equipment
- Moving materials throughout the lab and office space
Example testing includes:

- Tensile testing using electro-mechanical test frames
- Supporting the development of a custom test fixture
- Determining failure modes of consumer products via destructive testing
- Packaging testing to achieve strength and durability data
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a mechanical or materials test lab environment preferred
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and able to perform data input, basic calculations, and charts
- Must know and use safe laboratory practices and skills
- Must have and employ strong organizational skills to deal with large numbers of samples for testing and compiling resulting data
- Good communication skills (written and oral) are required
- Prior experience using shop tools to make things from wood, metal and plastic are required
- Willing to ask questions and seek clarification when needed
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills required
- Strong work ethic and "team" attitude required
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and demonstrate effective initiative
- Must be eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship or need for future sponsorship
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
