Underwriter - Property and Casualty

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a P & C Underwriter to join our team! The Underwriter will be responsible for interacting with retail brokers to quote, bind and service policies. This position may be located in either our Goldsboro or Winston-Salem office. Depending on prior job experience, this may be a remote position, but requires the employee to be in-office during certain times (ex: training, company meetings, etc).

**Duties:**

-Evaluate incoming insurance submissions and determine which of the companies would best meet the insured's needs while qualifying under the company's guidelines.

-Provide our retail producers with quotes, binders, and handle all policy processing requirements as needed for policy issuance and maintenance. Respond to questions regarding coverage by reviewing and/or providing coverage forms.

-Provide rating and underwriting instructions essential for issuance of mid-term changes (endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements).

- Develop methods to maintain and grow your book of business with these retail producers by delivering prompt, friendly and professional service.

-Develop working relationships with underwriters from both binding authority companies and specialty brokerage companies. Become proficient in knowing the lines of business and specific products that each of these markets handle. Be willing to meet with these underwriters when they visit our office as well as attend various company or industry underwriting meetings.

-Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**

-NC P&C Licenses and at least one year’s experience in underwriting, rating, and quoting required. Experience brokering property and casualty insurance policies is desired, but not required. Two or more years' experience is preferred.

-Maintain all required insurance licenses in an active status.

-Proficient in the use of personal computers including Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as document management systems preferred.

-Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and insurance industry designations (AIS, AU, CPCU, ASLI, CIC) valued.

-Be able to multi-task with incoming phone calls and underwriter processing duties. Ability to reason with producers over the phone and via email to obtain necessary underwriting information.

-Strong written and verbal communication skills - proficiency in the use of the English language.
