What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at Strike?
The Mechanical Engineer will work under the supervision of the lead mechanical engineer, applying their skills and expertise to engineering projects. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion. This position will work as part of a project team in the execution of capital projects for new construction as well as facility upgrades and improvements.
Primary Job Function:
- Develop and review project calculations such as stress analyses, hydraulic analyses, and relief device sizing calculations
- Develop and review preliminary vessel sizing calculations, prepare RFQ documentation and perform technical evaluations of vendor quotes
- Oversee deliverable production to ensure compliance with industry codes, environmental guidelines, client specifications, quality assurance program and project work plan
- Coordinate with project engineers, other discipline engineers, and construction teams to ensure consistency in execution of project management activities.
- Interface with Client to discuss design requirements and project status updates during weekly and 30/60/90% design reviews.
Experience:
- 2-6 years detailed engineering design experience in one or more of the following project types: natural gas/liquid pipelines, compressor/pump station facilities, gathering pipelines and facilities and gas treating facilities.
- Experience with HYSYS or UniSIM software is preferred
- Experience with Caesar II is preferred
- Understanding of API 520/521 is a plus
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- E.I.T. required, P.E. preferred

- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and work with multidisciplinary teams; and deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to prepare and interpret design reports, recognize problems, and define and evaluate solutions
- Ability to mentor entry level staff on oil and gas pipeline and facility projects
Other Criteria:
- Must be willing to travel to project sites to collect field data
- Must be willing to travel to project sites to perform field inspections
- May be required to be out of town for multiple days at a time.
