THE JOB
This is a Lead Project Engineer role develop a project scope and description through collaboration with Corporate and Plant Engineers and other stakeholders to ensure construction projects meet objectives. As a Lead Project Engineer your roles and responsibilities will include:
- Develop a project scope and description through collaboration with Corporate and Plant Engineers and other stakeholders to ensure construction projects meet objectives
- Develop and write specifications and bid documents for engineering and construction services
- Collaborate with Procurement and Legal during bid and award phase to ensure selected contractors can meet project objectives on time, on budget, and on schedule
- Manage Architecture/Engineering (AE) firms during project design phase. Meet regularly and review progress. Prepare regular status reports. Track and control project spending. Manage Change Order processes
- Manage General Contracting (GC) firms during project construction phase. Meet regularly and review progress. Prepare regular status reports. Track and control project spending. Manage Change Order processes
- Manage contracted field employees
- Provide value engineering recommendations to support cost improvement targets
- Act and demonstrate ownership for assigned projects. Be a champion that strives to meet all project KPIs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Lead Project Engineer who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. A Lead Project Engineer would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical), Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related focus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with industrial construction projects or 8 years experience with commercial or multi-unit residential construction projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including MS project Experience with CAD applications
- Completed OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour Construction Courses Experience with AIA Contract Documents
- Experience with Design Bid Build, Design Build, and Cost Plus GMP project delivery methods
- Experience with Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) practices
- Experience as a Facility Engineer in an Industrial plant with experience in energy monitoring, compressed air, climate control, boilers, contact heaters, steam distribution, cooling towers, and hydraulic power units
