What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Product Designer position at Structureit?
DealX is a fast-growing fintech B2B SaaS business and we’re on a mission to connect the structured finance market. Our offices are in the US, UK, South Africa, Mauritius, Thailand and New Zealand and while our primary market is the United States, we are also growing our client-base in Europe.
We hire T-shaped Designers
A T-shaped Designer is an individual who has both depth and breadth in their skills. Depth is an area that they specialise in while breath is their knowledge, interest and abilities in a lot of other areas across the broad spectrum of Product Design.
The specific depth of skill that we are looking for in this role is around the specialisation of discovering product solutions and defining how they will work and interact. The required breath of skill relates to helping discover our users needs, pain-points and desires, as well as defining how the product should look and feel.
Requirements
- 5-8 years industry relevant experience
- Experience working on the creation of digital applications with a focus on how to optimise for users needs, pain-points and desires
- Experience working in data intensive domains which have complex business applications/processes (B2B product environment / SaaS space / workflow heavy platforms)
- An understanding of Human-centred Design and the value it brings to a product environment
- You are excited by the challenges associated with creating simple, intuitive experiences and beautiful, modern user interfaces within a complex product environment that is data intensive
- You are a natural problem solver with a distinct curiosity for how things work and why they work the way they do
- You are a self-starter who can work through ambiguity and collaboratively move priorities forward within the product team in which you are embedded
- You are passionate about building products that solve real problems
- You are a design leader who has an interest in the potential of one day helping build out the design function within the team
- You can communicate clearly – both verbally and in writing – to a broad range of stake holders and in particular you have extensive experience collaborating with product managers and developers from discovery and solutioning through to delivery and testing
- You are able to demonstrate relevant experience that show your approach and processes followed through case studies / work examples
What you’ll do
- Remain deeply oriented around the actual customers (and users) and the value our product brings to their lives
- Measure and optimise applications to improve ease of use, and create the best user experience by exploring different approaches to solve end-users’ problems
- Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, process flows, site maps, user interface designs and associated specifications to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
- Maintain and improve existing platform UI and experiences
- Help streamline "back-of-office" processes and systems that our internal teams use to deliver value to our customers
- Design new experiences that bring our Commercial Real Estate data to life in powerful ways for our customers and partners
- Continuously collaborate with product managers and engineers from discovery to delivery
- Work side by side with frontend developers (Partners on design system)
- Work with other DealX designers to jointly ensure branding and UI consistency across our products
- Passionately seek to discover and optimise on our approach to product design and ways of working
User research in our context
Our customers and users are a niche, specific set of personas who are typically busy individuals, within a context that makes it hard for us to freely access and engage with them. As a result, user research - discovering our users needs, pain-points and desires - is relatively new for us as a team.
We are actively working on how we can innovate in this area to increase our research maturity, despite the unique constraints that exist. The domain in which we operate is highly complex, as a result, we have found that our research activities require the knowledge and experience of product/domain specialists. Our research activities find success through shared ownership and collaboration between product, engineering and design.
