What you will do -
As the Production Team Lead in Portage, MI, you will be responsible for team performance in the areas of quality, safety, delivery and performance to budget, team building, employee engagement, new product implementation, and production planning.
Additional responsibilities:
* Be responsible for additional oversight of business unit, which may include multiple teams
* Use data and other inputs, identify, prioritize, and deliver on business and customer needs
* Contribute to strategic plans and manufacturing programs
* Allocate and lead resources in area based on production schedule and standards
* Collaborate with cross functional teams to achieve goals
* Identify, prioritize, and lead cost reduction initiatives to deliver on financial projections
* Partner with other business unit leaders on projects or operations initiatives to align when appropriate
* Collect various metrics and compile the data to forecast business needs and have ability to anticipate and predict business results-based data, such as planning and demand forecasts
* Be responsible for managing cost performance for the unit/team, supported with guidance
* Lead plant tours and be familiar with the products manufactured in assigned unit
* Attend daily improvement meetings and communicate business results /metrics clearly at all levels of the operations business
* Oversee execution and coaching of managing daily improvement (MDI) process up through Tier 3
* Evaluate employee performance through various means, such as talent reviews and common annual reviews, and enforcing company policies through appropriate disciplinary measures, with guidance
* Provide developmental coaching and guidance to team in the areas of performance management, communication, and adhering to company polices
* Be responsible for the recruitment and hiring of talent
* Manage labor through OT approval and timecard management
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement through the support of business and process improvements including but not limited to 6S, lean manufacturing initiatives, etc.
* Own and execute LSW (Leader Standard Work) and audit requirements including, but not limited to, Quality and 6S
* Be accountable for team training compliance and guidance to team members, while ensuring a proper tracking of competencies
What you need-
* Bachelor's degree required; in lieu of degree, 6 years of equivalent experience in addition to the below requirements will be considered
* 4 years of work experience required, experience in a regulated manufacturing environment- highly preferred
* Ability to drive team productivity, while maintaining high levels of quality, safety, employee engagement and morale required
* Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to teach and coach individuals from diverse backgrounds with varying communication and technical skills required
* Lean Six Sigma or related experience - highly preferred
