What you will do-
We are seeking an outstanding Engineering leader to manage this ground-breaking and exciting new technology. This individual will manage the engineering team to provide direct support to the Stryker Mahwah Business while also working closely with both the Development and New Product Introduction teams.
The Engineering Manager will provide technical leadership to the operations team. A core element of the role is to manage the development of the engineering competencies of the team. The role will involve developing engineering best practice and coaching and mentoring operations engineers on engineering best practice. The work will also involve process development and the design of new solutions to improve the efficiency and cost of existing production processes. A key part of this role will be supporting the development of medium and long term operations strategies to ensure the optimum operations performance over time.
Additional Responsibilities:
Be responsible and accountable for the development of the best engineering strategy to deliver the Operational objectives of the Mahwah business
Work in harmony with the Operations manager, Advanced Operations and Quality leaders to provide leadership and a consistent focus on product and process quality
Ensuring the standard process for machine and process introduction is adhered to, minimizing complexity
Lead a team of assigned engineers and other functional professionals to deliver specific project objectives which support the operations strategy
Work closely with the Mahwah Management team to ensure optimum business results in the short, medium and long term.
Be responsible to manage the engineering competencies of assigned engineers and partner with the Operations manager to ensure consistent development across the business unit ME’s
Develop and complete IDP’s and performance reviews with assigned engineers to provide structured development opportunities to improve performance and engagement
Be responsible, (with others) for the design and continuous development of the engineering Competency Management Process
Participate in defining Engineering best practice and generating procedures to standardize best practice where appropriate
Liaise with other function leaders where appropriate to ensure the engineering teams comply with and support cross functional best practice in GMP’s, GDP’s, Finance Processes, Compliance Initiatives and EHS Requirements
Lead and participate in cross functional and cross divisional process improvement initiatives- communicate and participate in system and process troubleshooting with support team members and with external agents
Drive continuous improvement through the greater integration of IT systems throughout the plant (use centrally generated reports, maximize the efficiency of IT technologies etc.)
Monitor and evaluate process layout to ensure maximum utilization of floor space, minimize handling and optimum process flow
Engage and participate in supporting the delivery of the BU’s KPI’s by continuously improving the performance of the business by providing technical solutions to operational issues
Provide leadership and direction to the BU on technology development and application within the manufacturing process and the implementation of lean manufacturing as required
Participate in FMEA and PPAP activities associated with product transfers and launches as required
Support all capital acquisition activity from specifying equipment, contract negotiation, Installation and validation as required
Deliver process development and cost reduction activities on specific projects that you and your team are assigned

What you need -
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
A minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience required
A minimum of 3 years of experience within operations or engineering in a leadership role required
Proven experience in Lean Tools/Methodology -highly preferred
