What you will do
The QC Microbiologist III is responsible for routine and non-routine product and raw material testing, environmental monitoring (EM), utilities, cleaning surveillance (CS), growth promotion, microbial identification, method and equipment validation execution, and general laboratory support. Additional responsibilities outside the laboratory include Out of Specification (OOS), Out of Trend (OOT) phase I investigations, laboratory deviations and complex data analysis and review.

Support routine and non-routine sampling and testing of the products, raw materials, pharmaceutical water systems, compressed gas systems, production lines, environmental monitoring (EM) of the production facility, and microbial identification, as needed.

  • Conducts growth promotion testing on media used for microbiology analysis, as needed.
  • Executes Out of Specification (OOS), Out of Trend (OOT) Phase I investigations, and laboratory deviations.
  • Responsible for conducting complex data analysis and review generated from routine and non-routine testing.
  • Responsible for execution of method suitability and equipment validation protocols.
  • Manages sample coordination prior to and following testing activities.
  • Responsible for ordering and stocking supplies.
  • Performs laboratory maintenance activities including but not limited to equipment preventative maintenance, calibration, disposal of waste, and cleaning laboratory areas.
  • Performs other technical services or laboratory support as needed.

What you need

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biology, or another related technical field
  • 2 years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (English).
  • Experience working in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) or other cGxP environments.
  • Experience with common laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, balances, graduated cylinders, etc.
  • Experience with common microbiology culturing techniques, routine compendial testing, and working in clean rooms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting laboratory investigations and performing data analysis.
  • Experience working with laboratory systems such as Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and TrackWise.
