Position Title: School Psychology Specialist
Department: Student Services
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Evaluated By: Director of Special Education or designee
FLSA Status: Exempt
Contract Length: 195 days
JOB SUMMARY: Evaluates pupils referred as potential candidates for Special Education program and presents a report to the placement committee on pupils he/she has evaluated. Tests may include intelligence, achievement, personality, and perceptual motor tests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conducts extensive psychological examinations of referred students, including transfers and re-evaluations.
- Participates in case conferences when referred students are involved, or as requested.
- Participates as a member of the School Based Intervention Team to review evidence based research intervention data, progress monitoring of interventions, and makes appropriate recommendations linking the assessment of data to intervention techniques in the learning process.
- Serves as a resource person concerning students with disabilities.
- Chairs evaluation/programming conferences; reviews and Interprets test results and diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students.
- Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred to him for examination.
- Follows due process timelines in completing comprehensive evaluations and in conducting evaluation/programming conferences.
- Follows Program Standards and Eligibility Criteria for each assigned case.
- Complies with district procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Ensures proper maintenance of files.
- Writes Behavioral Intervention Plans and Analysis of Functional Assessment of Behavior in conjunction with other pertinent tam members and conducts Manifestation Determination Reviews.
- Consults with other school personnel, Special Service staff. Interagencies, medical personnel, and parents concerning needs of students.
- Assists in planning and presenting in-service programs for staff and parents as requested.
- Maintains confidentiality and observes professional ethics.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in school psychology or equivalent.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Arkansas Department of Education School Psychology Specialist license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, administrators, parents, or the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret test data.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to
instructional program. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. Must be able to travel among various district buildings.
