The ORSL Student Coordinator for Community Engagement & Programs serves the primary student contact for ORSL’s three affiliate communities (Ithaca College Catholic Community, First Baptist Church in Ithaca, and Hillel at Ithaca College) and the campus’ six partner groups (Chabad at Ithaca College, Cereal Ministry, Community Church Leadership Program, IC Muslim Student, IC Paganism and Witchcraft Community, Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, and Mindful IC). This role will assist these communities with day-to-day work and help event follow-up is happening as needed.

Responsibilities 

  • In conjunction with the ORSL Director, plan and implement initiatives and events of public interest at Muller Chapel such as the biannual open house; 
  • Communicate regularly with staff and student leaders associated with affiliated communities and partner groups (introductions will be made by the ORSL Director) to help determine the needs of different communities and how ORSL’s resources will be utilized; 
  • Promote any programming happening in Muller Chapel provided it is sponsored by a registered organization at Ithaca College; 
  • In partnership with the ORSL Director, develop strategies to increase awareness of Muller Chapel and its resources (including weekly wellness programs and meditation room); 
  • Provide general office support and maintenance of Muller Chapel (including alerting the Director of low supplies in the chapel kitchen and office); 
  • Greet visitors to Muller Chapel and actively foster a welcoming, inclusive environment; Provide peer-to-peer support and referrals for students who need resources; 
  • Work up to 20 hours a week at Muller Chapel; 

Qualifications 

  • Previous experience with event planning, group discussion facilitation and/or community engagment preferred; 
  • Must be available for staff training at the beginning of the Fall/Spring semester, weekly hour-long staff meetings and biweekly half-hour one-on-one meetings with the ORSL Director. These meetings are arranged in conjunction with student staff schedules; 
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with Muller Chapel documents, meetings, conversations, and visitors; 
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5; 
  • Must be enrolled as a student at Ithaca College and in good academic standing for the term prior to starting and during the entire period of employment.

Pay Rate: $15.15
