We are searching for a Student Engagement Manager to join our community.

In this position, you will lead a diverse regional team of Enrollment Counselors to support students throughout the enrollment process with IFSA, ensuring the team meets or exceeds enrollment targets and that students are well-resourced and prepared to begin their IFSA experience abroad. The position manages the enrollment pipeline for their region(s) to prepare students for successful arrival on-site. The Manager also serves as Enrollment Counselor for a portfolio of programs

In this position, your responsibilities would include:

  • Oversee day-to-day work of a regional team of Enrollment Counselors and Interns as they engage students through an appreciative advising framework. Flex and adjust workloads to ease bottlenecks and navigate enrollment cycles to deliver a superior and inclusive student engagement experience.
  • Serve as a critical leader in the Student Engagement division to uncover trends, improve applicant retention and student advising services, and foster internal collaboration within and across teams in alignment with our mission and commitments.
  • Manage and guide the regional team’s application, submission, acceptance and prearrival processes, ensuring tasks are executed expeditiously, such as critical functions related to:
  • application deadlines
  • program academics
  • student identity and appreciative advising
  • prearrival orientation and resources
  • health, safety and accommodations
  • visas
  • housing
  • international travel to the host country
  • parent engagement
  • Manage communication campaigns and delivery of prearrival materials to prepare students for departure and successful on-site experiences.
  • Monitor and support Enrollment Counselor performance with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Use data in Salesforce and other systems, producing reports and conducting in-depth analysis of student data and information, to identify gaps and help the team to organize and execute follow-up activity. Represent IFSA’s goals around Inclusive Excellence and Intercultural Agility both collaboratively within the organization and externally with stakeholders and partners.
  • Collaborate across the organization, with home institution advisors, and with host institution partners for the systematic and efficient handling of students’ applications and “next steps checklist” prior to their arrival on site.
  • Serve as Enrollment Counselor for a portfolio of IFSA programs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements, Work Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 years of professional experience, including experience leading a team.
  • Work experience in sectors such as higher education, study abroad, business, customer service, hospitality or non-profit.
  • Strong project management and time management skills; the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team with multiple priorities
  • Contagious enthusiasm for IFSA’s mission, vision and commitments.
  • Success in working effectively with multiple stakeholders from diverse communities and cultures, including engaging with and supporting students with diverse lived experiences, such as students of color, students with mental and physical disabilities, first-generation college students, and LGBTQIA students.
  • Aptitude to learn and embrace technology for solving business problems and improving efficiency, including proficiency with Salesforce or another CRM, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt and thrive in ambiguous and changing situations and to shift focus and reprioritize work as needed.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, and working collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience living, working or studying abroad.
  • Existing legal authorization to work in USA.

Physical and Work Environment

  • Working on a computer: placing phone/video calls, editing documents and spreadsheets, working in the student database and SharePoint sites.
  • Ability to attend occasional meetings outside of local business hours, due to the global nature of our operations.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel required.
