Architect. Responsible for developing detailed specifications, drawings and architectural design plans for buildings and structures in conformity with project requirements for clients in the industrial, transit, transportation, aviation, education, and commercial sectors. Work with project management to determine design approach and criteria to be followed for assigned architectural projects; conduct investigations, studies, and architectural analysis; develop design calculations for details, plans and specifications; prepare quantity calculations and developing cost estimates; perform quality control review of construction documents; apply sustainable design principles; ensure conformance with standards, established architectural practices, applicable codes COMAR, IBC, IECC, IEBC, NFPA, IgCC, and technical adequacy of design and construction; review shop drawings and Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction; conduct site visits and monitor work of junior architectural staff. Duties include extensive utilization of specialized computer software applications including AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation as design tools and to solve complex architectural problems. Position requires approximately 50% of travel time to project sites within District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia area. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, followed by minimum five years of progressive experience in the position offered, or five years of progressive experience as an architect or architectural associate for industrial, aviation, education, commercial and LEED certification projects, including: preparing design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit; developing project specifications and identifying suitable products/building materials; participating in building code analysis and ensure conformity with applicable codes COMAR, IBC, IECC, IEBC, NFPA, IgCC; developing construction details, building sections and elevations; reviewing document submittals; conducting site visits; supervising architectural drafters; and completing architectural design documents.
